We try to collect as little as possible. The categories below cover everything Daily Trivia may hold about you.

  • Account information: If you create an account, we store your email address, a display name (nickname), an optional avatar, and an internal user ID. You can play without an account and skip this entirely.
  • Gameplay data: Quizzes you've taken, scores, answer choices, timing, difficulty, streaks, badges and personal bests. This powers leaderboards, stats and streak rewards.
  • Custom quiz submissions: The topics you enter to generate custom quizzes are stored so we can regenerate the quiz and improve the AI prompts.
  • Usage & device data: Anonymized analytics such as browser type, operating system, screen size, approximate location (country/region), referral source, and pages visited.
  • Cookies & local storage: Small identifiers used to keep you signed in, remember your sound and display preferences, and measure aggregate traffic.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To run the core game — serve quiz questions, record answers, and update leaderboards, streaks and badges.
  • To personalize your experience, remember your preferences, and keep you signed in.
  • To measure aggregate usage, spot bugs, and improve our content and question quality.
  • To display advertising, including personalized ads through third-party vendors like Google AdSense.
  • To respond to your messages when you contact us for support, corrections or partnerships.
  • To detect fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Service.

3. Legal Bases (GDPR / UK GDPR)

If you're in the EEA or the UK, we rely on the following legal bases: consent (for advertising and analytics cookies), contract (to provide the game once you sign up), legitimate interests (to keep the service secure, prevent abuse and improve quality), and legal obligation (where we must retain records to comply with law).

4. Google AdSense and Cookies

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to our users based on their visit to this and/or other sites.

5. Third-Party Services

We use a small number of trusted service providers to run Daily Trivia:

  • Supabase — authentication, database and edge functions.
  • Vercel — website hosting and content delivery.
  • Google Analytics 4 — anonymized traffic measurement.
  • Google AdSense — advertising.
  • Lovable AI Gateway — AI generation of quiz questions.

These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy terms. We never sell your personal information.

6. Data Retention

Account data is kept for as long as your account is active. Gameplay history is retained to power your stats and leaderboards. Anonymized analytics are retained for up to 26 months. You can request deletion at any time (see below) and we'll remove your account and associated personal data within 30 days.

7. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your account and personal data
  • Object to or restrict certain processing
  • Export your data in a portable format
  • Opt out of personalized advertising and non-essential cookies
  • Withdraw consent at any time

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@dailytrivia.ai. California residents have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know and the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information — we do not sell your data.

This site is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. International Transfers

Daily Trivia is hosted in the United States. If you access the site from outside the US, your information may be transferred to and processed in the US, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.

10. Security

We use industry-standard measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), row-level security on our database, and server-side validation for all writes. No system is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
